COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION

The Practice is improving how we communicate with patients.  Please tell us if you need information in a different format or require communication support.

TARGET TRAINING DAY

The surgery will be CLOSED for training purposes from 12 noon on Thursday 22nd June 2017. If you need a doctor urgently whilst we are closed please ring NHS 111.  In an emergency telephone 999 for an ambulance.  The surgery will re-open at 8 am on Friday morning.

 

SEXUAL HEALTH CLINICS

ON-LINE APPOINTMENTS & PRESCRIPTIONS!! - You can book your appointment on-line, up to 3 months in advance & also request repeat prescriptions.  Ask at reception for a password.  All appointments with the doctors are 10 minutes, if you have several problems to discuss please ask for a longer appointment. 

CHLAMYDIA Testing for males & females aged 16-25.

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection that often has no symptoms.

The test is a simple, painless, self taken swab for females and a urine test for men - ask your doctor, nurse or receptionist for a testing kit.

Why should I be tested?

To stop the spread of infection & prevent fertility problems in the future.  Every time  you change your sexual partner you should get a test

The treatment is a short course of strong antibiotics.

FREE CONDOMS

If you are over 16 you can collect free condoms from the surgery. 

Ask your doctor, nurse, or receptionist.

You can ring the receptionist and arrange to collect your condoms from reception.

If you are aged 13-16 you can collect free condoms from the surgery - please contact the surgery to arrange with the Health Care Assistant.

 

Nursing Services

Practice Nurses

childimmunise.jpgThe practice nurses are available in the treatment room for nursing care and general advice on minor illnesses & injuries, children’s immunisations, all travel, Tetanus, Flu & Pneumovax injections, dressings, ear syringing, blood tests and cervical smears.

Our Practice Nurses are also trained smoking cessation advisors.

Sister Mary Coghlan is the Infection Control lead for the Practice.  Infection control policies are available from the Practice on request. 

Specialist Practice Nurses

Specialist practice nurses are available, by appointment, at the following, weekly, health promotion clinics:

  • DIABETES– It is important for diabetic patients to have regulstethHands.jpgar check-ups to make sure they are receiving the most appropriate care
  • ASTHMA — It is important for asthmatic patients to have regular check-ups to make sure they are getting the best possible benefit from their inhalers
  • CORONARY HEART DISEASE— We offer appointments to all our patients who have had heart problems, to make sure that they are receiving the most appropriate care nosmoke.jpg
  • STROKE — We monitor all patients who have had a stroke
  • SMOKING CESSATION — Our nurses are trained to support & encourage you to stop smoking
  • IMMUNISATION & TRAVEL ADVICE — For all immunisations & advice on health issues relating to foreign travel
  • CERVICAL SMEARS — The doctors recommend that all women aged 20-50 have a cervical smear every 3 years, and 50-64 every 5 years. Our Practice Nurses are trained to do this for you

 

 


 

Healthcare Assistant

Our healthcare assistant provides support to the nursing team. She sees patients for their new patient health checks, blood pressure checks, can take blood samples and does some dressings.
